"This coveted award places Mountain Meadows at the forefront of
the senior housing industry," Hill said. "It makes us a
nationally-recognized model and leads to increased desirability and
financial impact, both for Mountain Meadows and the region," said
Hill. The award goes annually to the "best community designed for
early retirees and active senior residents in a resort-style setting
with significant recreation amenities."
A national panel of jurors assessed communities across the nation
and chose Mountain Meadows as its best active entry for the year.
NCOSH awards "recognize builders and architects for creating
seniors’ developments that are outstanding in design, that
effectively meet the lifestyle needs and desires of residents and
that are skillfully marketed," the Council said. "Projects are
honored for their ability to solve specific design constraints of
seniors’ housing such as site, budget, enhancing the life of
seniors, aging issues and specific marketing issues."
Tracy Lux of Trace Marketing, Sarasota, FL was one of the judges.
"I am so enthusiastic about this project," she said. "You don’t see
people putting together communities that cover all the bases, do it
with high design standards and don’t overdevelop a site." Mountain
Meadows is known for offering multiple living environments, services
and ownership opportunities.
"Receiving an award like this has a lot of personal meaning for
me," Madeline said. "I’ve been planning Mountain Meadows for 10
years, and to be recognized this early on in the project is quite an
honor." The nationwide magazine, Senior Housing News, will be
featuring the community in its Spring issue.
Leslie Moldow, Mithun’s lead architect, said Mountain Meadows is
one of the firm’s best clients because of its innovative and
quality-oriented vision. "The main thing about it is the heartfelt
way the community has been planned. It really means something to the
people who do, and will, live here to have this kind of forethought
go into their residences."
The 31-acre community on North Mountain
Avenue, Ashland, is planned for 58 single family homes, 155
condominiums, 54 congregate care apartments, 75 licensed assisted
living apartments and 32 special-needs beds. The eventual population
will be around 500.
